The majority of Hartington's streets have Trading Restrictions for Mobile Traders enforced by Derbyshire Dales District Council. This is to protect established Village Businesses and to ensure the Village has a say regarding the type and volume of mobile traders in Hartington. A trader can apply to DDDC for a licence which has an administaration fee of £50.
Before issueing a licence DDDC will consult with the Parish Council and any residents or businesses immediately affected by the site chosed for trading, in order to ascertain there is no nuisance or other issues arising from the issueing of the license.
The Parish Council have no wish to stop appropriate mobile traders if they are providing a beneficial service to residents or visitors. We however support licensing as a means of assuring both the quality and quantity of casual trading in our Village.
Any casual tradering can be reported to DDDC, together with vehicle number plates or other information, so they can determine if a license is held and if not, take appropriate action.
Village Greens remain the responsibility of the Parish Council and Village Groups wishing to use these for events or stalls should continue to approach the Council in the normal way. We need a little notice as we must notify our insurers who insist a Council member is present to supervise any event.
